Creative Critical Reflection

1.                  1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social                 groups or issues?

My product does not challenge any conventions. It just represents those of us who have fun with sports in their life. Although even doing that is challenging as everyone playing sports must be cautious now of covid-19. In fact Covid-19 has postponed numerous programs over the year, whether basketball, football, or soccer.

2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

I think the commercial keeps the audience engaged with interest, makes them want to buy a Spalding basketball. I believe that it would be distributed as an advertisement online on services like, YouTube, for example. Also, it would be shown on television in between shows because it is a commercial, and can bring in more revenue for the Spalding brand.

 3.  How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

I will say that before this project, my production skills were nonexistent. Directing was a new thing to me, which I believe I did well. Helping my actor out with his nervousness about being filmed. Then editing was amazing, I believe my editing skills for the productions final product were better at the end before the due date, really took my time and grasped what I was trying to do and in the end benefited. So, my production skills developed greatly throughout the project, hope I can get back to doing more of it.

4.      How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

I used just two types of technology during this project. I was only able to film on my phone and from there I had to get my clips over to my laptop. I emailed the clips and recordings over to my laptop which has my email on it already. After then it was easy to download the clips. For the editing I had to dump the clips over online to the application “ClipChamp”. I used this app in editing. From then on it was just trying to get a great final outcome. I had to cut some clips to fit the 30 second runtime, include transitions and slow down some clips for a better effect.
