Genre Decision
Genre Decision
For my opening sequence, I will be using the genre, Dramedy. A Dramedy is exactly what it sounds like, a mix of the elements of comedy and drama. How did I come up with this genre you may ask? I’m familiar with the genre due to past viewings of films. The Breakfast Club, Life, the upside, all have piqued my interest in the genre. The opening sequences are casual and non-excessive. Perfect for my budget, which is little to nothing compared to those of actual movies. The genre can occur in a multitude of communities, whether urban, suburban, no matter. The genre can be realistic also, seeing how most plots can be related to the audience. The problems can alternate from disaster to comedy in a second, like in real life. Bringing both joy and real problems to the big screen. I guess my personal enjoyment of dramedies is another reason I chose it as my genre. Seen in most family-based sitcoms, I’ve always been surrounded by dramedy. The limitations of people on the project was also a variable, meaning I had to make an opening sequence that didn’t have to be too complex.
