Intro Blog

     Hi, my name's Erickson Sanon. I am a senior here at Fort Lauderdale High School. I am happy to be back in AICE Media this year. It is going to be a different experience than last year with everyone being back in school. While last year’s assignments were fun I felt limited. On projects where I could have multiple partners, I kept things limited using family as actors or someone behind the camera. I can’t wait to start another final task for this year. I believe I’m more knowledgeable now than my junior year, and intend to prove it. Filming, editing and researching was a handful but nonetheless it was worth it. I enjoy films more now because of what I know. Understanding why a director chose to use a certain camera angle in a scene for example. Watching movies like The Little Things or Zodiac is fun because of the details. The mise-en-scenes and CLAMPS all are intriguing when watching these films. Annoying my family with these little facts when watching these films is fun also. Anyways, creating a short film this year seems like a lot of fun. I intend to put much work into it along with my group mates and who knows what could happen. Might be good enough to be considered for something recognizable like the Sundance Film Festival. The award winning film Whiplash (2014) was made fully from a short film. Let me not get my hopes up too high though. Great to be back, looking forward to blogging the rest of the year.

Planning: Storyboard

I started the opening of the play with a gradual opening to create a bit of suspense but, also to give the audience some time to get ready. The added track shot also adds a feel of the audience being their walking with jack, it's overall more intimate. Then after the track shot, there is a fast shot of the play and or movie getting straight to the point. (starting the show) The black screen transition is untimely to show the audience that one scene has ended and that was moving on to something else. This helps with older audience viewers as well guiding them to the next scene. The close-up shots added also add drama with it being a shot that happens out of nowhere. Also, the back and forth shots of jack's pacing add suspense as well to over exaggerate the feeling that's taking place. Research Blog: Soft (2007)

                                                 Research Blog: Soft (2007)               Soft (2007) is a tense short film drama directed by Simon Ellis. The film is fifteen minutes long and depicts the terrorizing of a father and son by neighborhood teens. Throughout the film we see the emotions of the characters. The father remains visibly scared of the young teens but the son remains angry. The director uses close ups to give the audience a better understanding of the characters emotions. The conflict of the film is that while they are being terrorized the father doesn’t want to retaliate because of his fear and tries to keep the son from doing anything. Planning for my Spalding Basketball commercial

                                                           Planning Blog  Props   There won't really be too much if any props in the commercial. Costumes   In the commercial, the actor(s) will have on appropriate gym clothes. He will wear athletic gym shorts, with a tank top that is playable in. Basketball shoes would have to be mandatory, for grip on the court and best performance. The actor may wear compression tights, depending on the conditions.
