                          Genres I Would Like to Research 

          For the short film I would like to research three different genres. After talking with my group it was decided. Horror, Drama, and Thriller are the three most interesting genres when it comes to my group's short film idea. Why these three genres? The pitch has elements best associated with those three rather than other genres. The plot summed up is for the girl to be going through anxiety, always focused on the next task ahead and eventually die. A thriller could make the main character's anxiety more interesting but its never wrong to evaluate our options. Her death and the events leading up to it can go well with the thriller genre too. Although, the same could be said in following a drama genre instead. With the certain elements of the genre the main character’s anxiety and personal issues are more exposed. Bringing her problems more to light can grasp the audience more effectively. Then finally her demise brings it to full effect. However a horror could pair well also with her death but the elements may not be as compatible with the rest of the short film. This is going to be easier after researching the genres and their elements. This could come down to one obvious choice but the point is to be sure and thorough before making a decision. Hopefully after sufficient research the decision becomes most transparent. When researching it’s most important to have fun while doing it. Film in general is a great subject to study. I started the opening of the play with a gradual opening to create a bit of suspense but, also to give the audience some time to get ready. The added track shot also adds a feel of the audience being their walking with jack, it's overall more intimate. Then after the track shot, there is a fast shot of the play and or movie getting straight to the point. (starting the show) The black screen transition is untimely to show the audience that one scene has ended and that was moving on to something else. This helps with older audience viewers as well guiding them to the next scene. The close-up shots added also add drama with it being a shot that happens out of nowhere. Also, the back and forth shots of jack's pacing add suspense as well to over exaggerate the feeling that's taking place.                                                  Research Blog: Soft (2007)               Soft (2007) is a tense short film drama directed by Simon Ellis. The film is fifteen minutes long and depicts the terrorizing of a father and son by neighborhood teens. Throughout the film we see the emotions of the characters. The father remains visibly scared of the young teens but the son remains angry. The director uses close ups to give the audience a better understanding of the characters emotions. The conflict of the film is that while they are being terrorized the father doesn’t want to retaliate because of his fear and tries to keep the son from doing anything. Planning for my Spalding Basketball commercial

                                                           Planning Blog  Props   There won't really be too much if any props in the commercial. Costumes   In the commercial, the actor(s) will have on appropriate gym clothes. He will wear athletic gym shorts, with a tank top that is playable in. Basketball shoes would have to be mandatory, for grip on the court and best performance. The actor may wear compression tights, depending on the conditions.
