Filming Blog: Final Task

Image
Filming Blog: Final Task    Over spring break I was able to conduct and finish filming for my final task. Reflecting on it now, it was the production that I took most seriously. While the commercial was great I believe this opening sequence can overcome it. During the break in filming, a lot of things went our way. We had ample amount of toke to shoot scenes of course because there was nothing else to do. The usual distractions of other classwork and priorities were out of mind. The basketball hoop at the court was still damaged but operable. The field which the scenes took place did gather much litter however. Parties taking place really caused it too look less than presentable. The actor and I however were comfortable and on the same page. There wasn’t any arguing or improvisation that took place. My direction over the production was well received. Other than the occasional shot being ruined by an unpredictable outside force. Being our young...

Production Blog: Final Task

Production Blog: Final Task Before spring break begins I am making sure to account for everything that this production will need to succeed. I have looked at the locations outside where some scenes will be taking place. The field, which some scenes will be, has a lot of litter and that’ll only take some clean up to be suitable. The basketball court on the other hand is damaged to say the least. The hoop itself is non operational. The environment might be impactful to the overall message of what the film would be about. That’s for another time though, since this is just an opening sequence. If the field continues to be amassed with litter though I will substitute the field with another one not so far from the original. The court scenes will just have to be executed with some finesse on my part in editing. My actor will be not be able to film for the first few days of spring break. Good to know now before I have to change scheduling again. So after Wedne...

Filming Blog: Final Task Over the past weekend I began filming the rest of the scenes that belong to my final task. The exiting of each other’s apartments and walking down stairs. The meet up for the two character was a scene that was left out for now until the proper way to handle the camera can be found. Needed to have a  shaky, handheld feeling. An outside party will have to be added to the production process. On the second  day of filming last weekend, the production started late. Time had changed and the second actor did not receive enough sleep. To think of it, the acting was subpar compared to the rest of the dates which we filmed. Other conditions was noticed that would be confusing when cut together. The condition of th...

Music Blog: Final Task

Music Blog: Final Task Because of an unexpected change in schedule this blog won’t be about editing as planned. Still have some filming to do that’ll take place this weekend. In the meantime however, I have begun researching music that I believe will be compatible with my opening sequence. The music is going to begin when the transition between scenes begin between the two characters. I want a upbeat transitory vibe to set the tone going on. I watched some movies that begin the same way as my opening sequence as a reference. I did this because the music in an opening sequence sets the tone for the whole film. In The Breakfast Club the sound of those drums and upbeat rock let you know how the movie was going to be a raunchy rebellious film. Not only does the music set the tone, it should also intrigue your audience. Choosing two songs to fit perfectly is harder than I thought, nothing seems ...

Filming Blog: Final Task

Filming Blog: Final Task  Over the past weekend, the actor and I continued filming for the final task. It consisted of multiple takes of the middle of the opening sequence. For some scenes I was able to record independently but for most scenes we had to alternate. Alternating the camerawork; I should say. It did seem that we had to extend filming to another date and time however. I would much rather stay on schedule but it’s quality not quantity. Other than falling behind in schedule, filming over the weekend was actually pretty fun for me. I was estimating the quality of the opening sequence that would be made. Have to say, I’m pretty sure that the end result will exceed my expectations. I know though that I should not get ahead of myself, after editing you never know what could happen. I may have an over abundance of seconds with the addition of some edits....

Filming Blog: Final Task            On March 3rd, I began filming my opening sequence for my final task. While there was a lot of retakes, the process went smoothly. We started late at night to resemble the early next morning. Due to a tight schedule, we just jumped straight into filming. Before a scene with the other actor, I let him know his lines which he learned easily. I tried to keep the script concise in order to stay in between the two minute mark. Also to stay in the margin for scenes that I was planning to have. The first few scenes were easy enough to film. They were just establishing shots, you know, to let the audience know the setting of the upcoming scenes. Only thing that was difficult was wait...
