Title Research: Watch the Titles Website           Another resourceful title sequence source is the website, “Watch the Titles” In this website the directors can be viewed as an influence. For example, the Dare Devil title sequence. Having the title sequence emit what seemed like soundwaves was what was unique to the title character. Being blind and relying on his hearing, the soundwaves are what is important to him. This website gives an insight into what happens in Hollywood production. Genre Research: Diary of A Mad Black Woman

Image
Genre Research: Diary of A Mad Black Woman  Diary of a Mad Back Woman is a dramedy film released in 2005. When it came to balancing between comedy and drama, the movie leaned one way. It was dramatic throughout but did have comedy elements in the movie. Drama element was well written out with the main character having her high life uprooted having to return to her humble beginnings. Now when it came to comedy the main character, Madea, stepped in with her outrageous antics. Now the character-building element was good. The main character pulls herself up after a life of depending on her husband. A new love interest is introduced. The ex-husband is given a second chance at life and flips his attitude and position towards the main character. Now when it comes to the reality of plot, its half believable. A woman strong enough to be independent, find a new love and get rid of a tox...

Genre Research: Life(1999)

Image
Genre Research: Life(1999)            Life is a dramedy film released in 1999. An iconic cast of black actors and comedians, like Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Bernie Mac, etc. Dramedies are supposed to balance between drama and comedy, this movie really went mostly one way. While an extremely funny film, its drama element was the minority. What the plumbing about two black men being convicted of a crime that they didn't commit, the movie had potential to be more dramatic. That’s an element they weren’t so great in with this genre. They did provide character depth however on the main characters, giving a backstory on them and their personality. One being a get rich quick type and the other a “get a job” and settle down type. When it com...

Genre Research: The Breakfast Club

Image
Genre Research: The Breakfast Club  The Breakfast Club is an iconic 80’s dramedy film I’ve done research on. With a great cast and plot, the film greatly captures what a dramedy should be. The film found a balance between the combination of genres. In a dramedy, you do not want to have comedy mixed up in the drama and ruin the objective of the movie. A lot of dramedies often tip to one side more than the other but not the Breakfast Club. The film captured the drama involving the characters and comedy antics without drowning one another out. Another element of dramedy is character depth. Without it, audiences can’t connect or sympathize with the characters. The Breakfast Club most efficiently built up the characters backstory adding layers to their character. Eventually realizing their roles as, “a brain, and an athlete, and a basket case, a princess ...

Genre Decision

Genre Decision  For my opening sequence, I will be using the genre, Dramedy. A Dramedy is exactly what it sounds like, a mix of the elements of comedy and drama. How did I come up with this genre you may ask? I’m familiar with the genre due to past viewings of films. The Breakfast Club, Life, the upside, all have piqued my interest in the genre. The opening sequences are casual and non-excessive. Perfect for my budget, which is little to nothing compared to those of actual movies. The genre can occur in a multitude of communities, whether urban, suburban, no matter. The genre can be realistic also, seeing how most plots can be related to the audience. The problems can alternate from disaster to comedy in a second...

Genre Research: Action and Horror

Image
Genre Research: Action and Horror  Below are two power points of two different genres, Action and Horror. In both power points  I researched the elements of both. Researched the common CAMS and CLAMPS of both genres. Along with common editing, and sounds. What I like about each genre and what I particularly dislike. I can go either way with each genre, they're both enjoyable to me when directed properly. Action movies are great when not overly excessive with too many explosions and overkill and gore. Horror movies can be the same exact way, but the overkill and gore are what brings the audience joy in the theater or home. You'll find out more from the power points.                                                                                    Comedy Below this paragraph is a research power point on the genre of comedy. In this power point, another student and I researched the elements and common attributes that comes along with the genre. Also, stationary, quick zoom, and others are the common movements in comedy. The appeals and negatives of the genre had to be the one of the most important. Comedy can be highly controversial, especially in recent years, a bad joke on a show or movie can lead to cancellation, or failures at the box office....

My Pitch

Image
My Pitch      I have two pitches for you. My first being a dramatic film set in the modern day setting. The main character is a normal joe who gets roped into a conspiracy after a bystander seemingly "runs" into the path of his car. Through all the chaos of trying to get him some help, he notices that there are some suspicious types not far from the scene. After being cleared of all blame, he can't stop thinking about it and looks up who he ran over and lo and behold, the victim was apart of a cult of some sort in town. He begins to become recruited by the cult, with excess fliers and mail being addressed to him. He be...

Starting the Final Task

Image
Starting the Final Task           My name's Erickson Sanon.  T his blog is the beginning of many that belong to the final task of the year. For my final task of the year though I will be working alone. Why did I choose to work alone you may be thinking. Since the beginning of the year, I've completed productions on my own, this decision came due the current state of the country right now. I did not want to take any chances with COVID-19 still being out and about. I was apart of the fall football team during the other productions also, which meant contracting the virus would be devastating to the season. There is a vaccine out now, but it's still a hassle. Plus, I believe working alone is the best way to not have any mix-ups. In my opinion, I believe that my creativity can be the best, because my imagination is endl...
